China, Egypt reach agreement on pesticide registration data
The Chinese Institute for the
Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA) and the Egyptian
Agricultural Pesticide Committee (APC) have recently reached an agreement on
mutual acceptance of pesticide registration data and signed a memorandum on
technical cooperation.
The two parties have discussed
pesticide management, registration data requirements, law and regulation
construction, market regulation, as well as pesticide import/ export issues.
Egypt is a country with large
agricultural economy, the main export products include rice, fruits, potato,
onion and cotton. The agrochemical demand of Egypt relies heavily on import,
with domestic pesticide production only accounts for 25-30% of the total usage.
This memorandum aims to
facilitate cooperation in pesticide registration management, quality
supervision and trade regulating.
